WITH reference to your letter of the 8th February, containing a statement of British policy in China, I have the honour to communicate to you an extract from a letter dated the 18th February from Mr. Chao-Hsin Chu, the representative of China on the Council of the League of Nations, which is to the following effect :-

I have just received a telegram from the Wai-chiao Pu instructing me to notify you that we reserve the right of answering the British statement submitted on the 8th February, 1927, to the Secretariat for the information of the members of the League of Nations."
